2011 Global Day of Prayer

With the new Partnership of the Global Day of Prayer we will be encouraging every church to participate in 10 Days of Prayer beginning June 2, 2011. A prayer guide will be available on-line and copies of the prayer guide will be available for purchase. In addition, we are encouraging individual churches, or teaching triads, to host 24/7 Prayer rooms for ten days beginning June 2.

About the Global Day of Prayer

A Global Day of Prayer

All together in many places.

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.”

— Acts 2:1

All together in many places.

As dawn broke on the first Pentecost, Christians were gathered “all together in one place” (Acts 2:1). On Pentecost in 2006, many millions of Christians will again be all together—but in many places. We'll join together in prayers of blessing for the nations, praying in one accord for the biblical hope of Christ's greater glory and the transformation of all nations.

Arising from Africa.

In 2001, one stadium in Cape Town, South Africa was filled with 45,000 people to pray. In 2002, it expanded to eight stadiums and 350,000. A year later 2.5 million gathered in 130 stadiums. On May 2, 2004, the movement exploded to nearly ten times the size. More than 22 million rallied in prayer at more than 2,000 sites throughout every single country on the continent of Africa (56 nations). Leaders from most major traditions of Christian faith called their people to join in this historic act of united prayer.

Multiplying Across the Face of the Earth.

African Christians issued the same call for repentance and prayer to believers around the world. The result was the first Global Day of Prayer on Pentecost Sunday in 2005, drawing an estimated 200 million people. In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and again in 2010, on Pentecost Sunday, even greater numbers of Christians gathered in every country on earth.

Joining together in several ways:

  • Part 1: June 2 - June 11, 2011.

    • Ten days of constant prayer. On the evening of Ascension Day, June 2, millions the world over will begin by joining their prayers night and day for ten days.

  • Part 2: June 12, 2011.

    • The Global Day of Prayer. On Pentecost Sunday, Christians in many lands are planning to assemble in massive gatherings in stadiums and open squares. In other places, believers will gather in homes and other public venues. To help connect and align prayers even more, there will be three hours of live prayer broadcast. The signal will be relayed by satellite, radio and Internet so that many millions will be linked simultaneously all over the world. The same broadcast will be repeated so that people in any time zone can take part on Pentecost afternoon or evening.

Want to Thank My LORD for the many Blessings in our lives. Seven wonderful children all of which are very healthy except my oldest. He is just turning 19 and struggles w/ the reality of dealing with several health issues. Not to mention the normal day in and day out of a 19 yr old. We are very concerned w/ his health as he is not taking care of himself as he should. We pray for your strength to show us how to help him thur these hard times of growing up and taking care of his diseases. Thank You Lord for always being here for us and listening ......... All things are possible thur Christ!

Lord, may our hearts be broken as your heart is broken by injustice. Give us strength to act, love to share, peace to bring.
katie on 5/28/2009 11:54:56 AM.

Lord, what do you want our next step to be AFTER this serve-day and concert? The serve-day and concert are merely on the continuim of our Walk. They are not an end-all, where we've "arrived" once that day gets here. We have to constantly be asking the Lord: "Father, what do you want me to do next, then next, then next" to serve you and others.
Ja'Zan Brecunier on 5/22/2009 8:03:42 AM.

praying for the many who are living in this very season right now...that they TOO will know and cling to the living God with everything they've got.
dan on 5/21/2009 6:30:27 AM.

That thousands of lives will be impacted because a handful of Churches stood together with an audience of ONE, Jesus.
Schaun Colin on 5/18/2009 4:09:22 PM.

Praying that each of us will find the eyes to see, the ears to hear, and the heart to act.
Michael Johnson on 5/18/2009 7:48:45 AM.

God, Help me to boldly take a stand for you in a way that honors and brings glory to you. Help me to do all things through you and for you with no concern for worldly affirmation. Help me always first think of how I can serve rather than how I can be served. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Jennifer Hoggatt on 5/18/2009 7:37:17 AM.

Global Day of Prayer

For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them.

-- Matthew 18:20

It’s providential that our “What If” series coincides with the Global Day of Prayer. We are not just going to be praying with people from 11 other churches, but among every single nation on Earth. How cool is that?

The vision of the Global Day of Prayer is to glorify Christ and His blessings. The mission is to call Christians from all nations to unite in repentance and prayer and to work together as God’s servants for the blessing and healing of all nations.

If you have a prayer request or a reason for praise that relates to “What If,” post it here so our entire community can join together in prayer.

Let’s gather together in His name.

What if...? is a complementary and cooperative movement in Kansas City where churches of different styles, tribes, and sizes are banding together to do and be the church together. Did we mention "together"?

In 2008, three churches came together in relationship to accomplish what no one church could accomplish alone. Through mutual respect and friendship those three churches grew to eleven churches in 2009 and twenty in 2010.  We are now praying that thirty churches will come together in 2011 as a Light of unity and partnership in Kansas City! See the list of churches below who have already committed to partnering together for What IF the Church...? 2011

It all started with the humble heart of one church reaching out to another asking What If...?

This is the current list of churches involved with What If the Church 2010. More churches are being added weekly.
