The 2010 Teaching Series is Luke 15
What if the Church? – “Big Deal”
In the fifteenth chapter of Luke, it was a big deal to
the religious experts that Jesus hung out with riff
raff. And it was such a big deal to Jesus that He told
them why. In this passage, Jesus invites us into a story
of a recklessly extravagant dad, a lost kid brother and
an indignant big brother (i.e. the Church):
Sibling rivalry, extortion, squandering, pleasure,
longing, anger, shame, hope, forgiveness, jealousy,
parties, rings, fattened cows… and more!
Join us as we explore this story and try to figure out
why it is such a big deal.
We encourage you to attend your home churches all three
Sundays during the teaching series, as the pastors in
your “What if the Church?” triad will pulpit-swap for
the sake of expressing unity and friendship in the body
of Jesus. You will also play a role in expressing this
unity as you welcome these guest speakers into your home
congregations.
We can’t wait!
